A BURLESQUE THEATRE CABARET
with special guest presentation by Andrew Gurza of Deliciously Disabled
Saturday, February 27th | 1PM Doors Open | GF Strong Rehab Centre (Gymnasium)
We proudly invite you to a celebratory launch of Realwheels’ 2015-16 community project: SexyVoices – A Burlesque Theatre Cabaret. SexyVoices will explore sexual identity from a disability perspective. Members of the disability community can look forward to an exciting workshop-to-performance process that celebrates everyone and everyBODY!
SEXYVOICES meets DELICIOUSLY DISABLED!
The SexyVoices launch will feature a presentation by Toronto-based Disability Awareness Consultant Andrew Gurza, founder of Deliciously Disabled, a movement and brand that aims to make the lived experience of disability accessible to pop culture. As host of his own Internet radio program, “Deliciously Disabled: A Discussion of Sex, Disability and Everything in Between” for Voices4Ability Radio, Andrew’s passion is making disability accessible to everyone.
Andrew’s written work has been highlighted in Huffington Post, Everyday Feminism, Out Magazine, Mashable, The Advocate, and The Good Men Project. He writes about his lived experience navigating sex, masculinity, queerness and disability in a way that is accessible, honest and real. Andrew is fun, inclusive and welcomes everyone into the conversation of disability. We are thrilled to host Andrew’s first-ever live presentation in Vancouver!
Enjoy light refreshments at a short reception following Andrew’s presentation. Then…
Starting at 3pm, director Rachel Peake will lead the first SexyVoices theatre workshop for project participants only (- 5PM).
