Job Description: Realwheels is looking for an enthusiastic Program Assistant (Education) who will play a key role in the promotion & launch of an exciting new program: English-speaking Canada’s first professional calibre Acting Academy for individuals living with disability. The academy will be structured to meet the needs of each student, with individualized customization being central to all our practices. This is a part-time, remote work position.

Responsibilities: The Program Assistant is responsible for reaching out to the people in the disability community to explain & promote the unique features of the Acting Academy program. Furthermore, the Program Assistant collaborates with the Manager of the Acting Academy to perform administrative and clerical tasks. 

Responsibilities include: planning & executing an outreach camping, including communications, promotions, social media, newsletters, and Wikipedia page (in close collaboration with the Manager and Realwheels staff); maintaining files, records, and reports for the program. 

Tasks include: prepare correspondence and presentations; manage distribution lists and disseminate to the public communications; respond to electronic enquiries and provide general information to the public regarding the program rules, regulations, and procedures; assist with administrative and clerical procedures, and other communications as needed. 

Qualifications: As the successful candidate, you have an exceptional understanding of the disability experience. You have effective written and oral communication skills, and social media skills. Computer literacy is a must, and knowledge of Google Workspace (G Suite) an asset. Completion of Grade 12 or high school equivalent is preferred but not necessary. You are an enthusiast person, with a passion for equity and disabilities issues. The ideal candidate is a collaborative team worker who takes initiative and can work independently.

This position is a part of the Canada Summer Jobs Program, and its availability is subsequent to Canada Service approval. Candidates must meet the following eligibility requirements to be considered: be between 15 and 30 years of age at the start of the employment; be a Canadian citizen, permanent resident, or person to whom refugee protection has been conferred under the Immigration and Refugee Protection Act for the duration of the employment; and, have a valid Social Insurance Number at the start of employment and be legally entitled to work in Canada in accordance with relevant provincial or territorial legislation and regulations.

Anticipated start date: This position is 18 hours per week, for 23 weeks (schedule TBD but hours will generally be daytime, Monday to Friday). Additional flexibility might be required if needed. Anticipated start date is May 3, 2021.
