After a short break, we’ll begin our first creative workshop, led by facilitator Shawn MacDonald.
(Refreshments & snacks provided)
Shawn MacDonald is an actor, playwright, and director with over 30 years of professional theatre experience. We are elated that Shawn will be facilitating the creation of Wheel Voices Tune In! Over a 15 – 18 week period, Shawn will lead twice-weekly participatory workshops, culminating in a three-night production at the Roundhouse Performance Space (May 28-30, 2020).
Our Wheel Voices projects are transformative! We build new social bonds, engender pride in the disability identity, and impact audience perceptions about disability. We harness theatre-based tools to unite community and foster increased empathy, social connection, and cooperation.
Create your own original scene work, monologues, rap, spoken word, etc. and we’ll seamlessly integrate musical elements (choral work, drumming, potentially producing loops, clips, samples, or rhythms), mixed together to create ‘mash-up’ compositions that support stories rooted in the disability experience.
Contact Realwheels to participate (SPACE LIMITED!)
No experience necessary.
Any adult who identifies with a disability is welcome.
