One of Canada’s celebrated playwrights, Janet Munsil, is currently writing Act of Faith for Realwheels’ 2018-19 season.
Inspired by the true story of an inexplicable recovery from paraplegia by one of our own – a Vancouver teacher/dancer – after 13 years of life in a wheelchair, this is a story that baffles the medical/scientific community, arouses conflicting emotions in the disability community, and is celebrated by the religious community to which “Faith” belongs.
This play will inquire into the psychologies of these three communities as each strives to interpret the story from their discrete frames of reference, while Faith, the central character, processes her own, redefined identity. The cast will be comprised of actors with disabilities and able-bodied actors.
